Mancini: Inter need quality

Inter coach Roberto Mancini wants the club to add to the squad with quality in the transfer market as they bid to challenge for honours next season.

Mancini won the treble during his first spell at Inter in 2010, but since his return in November has struggled to guide the side to a consistent run of form.

With two matches remaining, Inter are still in with a strong chance of qualifying for next season s UEFA Europa League, but Mancini knows a club of such stature need to be aiming higher, with fierce rivals Juventus running claiming their fourth successive title.

We have to get quality players,  Mancini said ahead of Saturday s trip to fellow Europa League hopefuls Genoa.

Those kind of players can bring the team what it is missing. If we can get pl…

Balotelli linked with Juventus switch

The Mirror understands that Mario Balotelli has been linked with a return to Italy with reigning champions Juventus.

The former Liverpool and Manchester City man has been plying his trade in Ligue 1 since the summer of 2016 and has since racked up fifty-two appearances in all competitions, scoring thirty-five goals.

His form has alerted the attention of Juve, who fell four points behind leaders Napoli on Sunday though they will have the chance to close that gap on Monday evening when they take on

Balotelli last played for Milan in Italy, during a loan spell prior to his switch to France while he has also spent time with Internazionale in his home country, where he won three league titles, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League.

He has been cappe…

Zaha pledges allegiance to Ivory Coast

Wilfried Zaha has opted to represent Ivory Coast at international level after struggling to add to his two England appearances.

The Crystal Palace winger first broke on to the international scene for England in two friendlies against Sweden and Scotland in November 2012 and August 2013, respectively.

But the 24-year-old, who was born in Abidjan, remained eligible for his home nation due to not representing England in a competitive fixture.

Seemingly content with not adding to his two caps with England, Zaha made the decision on commit his international future to the Ivory Coast on Sunday and is now in contention to play at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in January.

A statement from the Ivorian Football Federation read: Ivorian-English offensive midfielder…

Watford 2-2 Arsenal: Defensive howlers cost clumsy Gunners

Mistakes from Sokratis and David Luiz saw Arsenal squander a two-goal lead as Watford earned a 2-2 draw in Quique Sanchez Flores first game back in charge at Vicarage Road.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang s deadly finishing, in the absence of the injured Alexandre Lacazette, looked to have steered Arsenal to victory after the Gabon international netted twice in 11 first-half minutes to take his tally to five in five Premier League games this season.

Unai Emery s men took the lead when Will Hughes was bundled off the ball and Aubameyang finished off a fast break with a cool finish, and the second arrived soon after courtesy of an astute Mesut Ozil throughball.

But Arsenal came under heavy pressure in the opening stages of both halves of an entertaining encounter and…

Don´t go to Real Madrid yet, Pires tells Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe should resist the temptation to join Real Madrid at the end of the season if an offer arrives, according to Robert Pires.

Amid a breakout season at Monaco, Mbappe is reportedly one of the most sought-after talents in European football.

Having already rejected the opportunity to join Madrid s youth team in 2013, the 18-year-old is believed to again be a target for the LaLiga heavyweights, who are coached by former France star Zinedine Zidane.

But Pires has cautioned the exciting striker against leaving Ligue 1 at this stage of his burgeoning career.

I think now for Mbappe, if I can give some advice to him, the most important thing is to stay in Monaco for a minimum of two seasons because he is young and he needs to play, Pires told Sky Sp…

Lemar has not been this good for a long time – Simeone

Diego Simeone lauded Thomas Lemar for an improved performance in Atletico Madrid s win at Valencia, despite the winger again failing to contribute to a goal.

Lemar, signed from Monaco in 2018, has not scored or provided an assist in LaLiga since his debut campaign, which yielded three goals and three assists.

After drawing a blank in the previous season, 2020-21 is proving similarly tricky for the France international.

However, there were signs of life in the 1-0 success on Saturday. Lemar had mustered just a single shot in the league so far this season but let fly on four occasions, drawing two superb saves from Jaume Domenech, and created three chances more than doubling his tally for the campaign.

Lemar was still substituted 25 minutes fro…

Arsenal midfielder Partey ´devastated´ by injury woes, says Arteta

Thomas Partey s injury problems since joining Arsenal have taken a toll on the midfielder, according to manager Mikel Arteta.

Partey joined the Gunners for £45million from Atletico Madrid in October and appeared a perfect answer to a problem position in the midfield engine room.

However, a hip issue meant he was restricted to four Premier League starts before the turn of the year and was forced off at half-time during the latter of those.

He returned to start in five consecutive league matches from mid-January onwards but the 27-year-old Ghana international sustained a hamstring injury during last weekend s 1-0 loss at Aston Villa.

Speaking ahead of Sunday s match against Leeds United at Emirates Stadium, Arteta conceded Partey s latest setback is more s…

Christian Pulisic says he will do everything in his power to be fit for the United States World Cup round-of-16 showdown with the Netherlands on Saturday.

Pulisic suffered a pelvic injury when scoring the winning goal in the USA s victory over Iran on Tuesday.

The Chelsea forward was substituted at half-time, but hopes to recover in time to take on the Oranje at Khalifa International Stadium this weekend.

that Paris Saint Germain are keen on signing Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Ligue One champions have been linked with a big money move for the Belgium international who moved to Goodison Park initially on loan in the summer of 2013 before making a permanent switch twelve months later.

In total Lukaku has played ninety-four times for the Merseyside club in all competitions, scoring forty-three goals including five in ten league outings so far this season.

Prior to his move to the Toffee’s, the twenty-two year old had a year-long spell at fellow Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion.
